Carl Officer
St. Clair County Coroner



For over 37 years, Carl E. Officer has been a committed and dedicated public servant to the voters and citizens of E. St. Louis and St. Clair County, IL.

In 1979, Carl was elected as mayor of E. St. Louis, becoming the nation’s youngest mayor, at the age of 27, and presided for four terms; as well as having served on the school board of E. St. Louis School District 189.

He currently serves as Vice President of Officer Funeral Home, P.C. with a B.S. in Political Science from Miami University of Oxford Ohio and is a graduate of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.

His memberships include the Illinois Funeral Director’s Association, The St. Clair county Funeral Director’s Association, The International Order of the Golden Rule, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and is a 33 rd degree Mason.

As a third generation legacy to his family tradition of service to the bereaved, Carl is seeking election to the office of Coroner for St. Clair County, believing that compassion and service have no allegiance to party and that dedication and hard work are non-partisan qualities
